Secure the Cloud: Hands-On AWS Security Operations and Monitoring

A two-day immersive cloud security camp for students and aspiring cloud professionals

Hosted by AWS Cloud Club at Tribhuvan University as part of the pre-event to AWS Student Community Day Nepal 2025, this two-day hands-on cloud security camp is designed to help participants strengthen their AWS security skills through guided labs and real-world scenarios.

This program emphasizes practical learning, deep technical exploration, and foundational security concepts essential for every modern cloud practitioner. Attendees will work directly with identity security, network protection, encryption, monitoring, and container security inside AWS environments while gaining insights into how industry security engineers safeguard cloud systems.

With only 70 seats available, the camp ensures a focused, interactive, and high-quality learning experience.

🔐 Cloud Security Foundations: Modern cloud security landscape, AWS Shared Responsibility Model, common vulnerabilities and risks including S3 exposure, IAM pitfalls and insecure networking.
👤 Identity and Access Management: Users, groups, roles, policies, permissions and secure access design with guided IAM configuration labs.
🌐 VPC and Network Security: Secure VPC design, subnet planning, workload segmentation and applying least privilege using Security Groups.
📦 Containers and Docker Security: Containers vs virtual machines, Docker fundamentals, risks in containerized environments and labs on Docker API misconfiguration exploits.
🗝 Data Protection and Encryption: SSE-S3, SSE-KMS, EBS encryption, KMS key handling and avoiding common encryption misconfigurations.
📊 Logging, Monitoring and Alerting: Using CloudTrail and CloudWatch for activity tracking, alerts, logging vs monitoring, compliance considerations in Nepal and cost-efficient security strategies.
🎓 Certification and Takeaways: Completion acknowledgment, guidance for next steps and best practices for building secure cloud systems.
